SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 6 months of experience as a Support Worker
  • Experience with clients with brain and spinal injury is preferred
  • Health and Wellbeing Level 3 or Level 4 is preferred
  • Certificate in Brain Injury Support, Pressure Injuries and Management of clients with complex medical needs are an advantage
  • Genuinely love working with people who need support
  • Be intuitive and responsive to people’s feelings and needs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The right to work in New Zealand
  • Full or restricted driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings if required
Responsibilities

As a Home Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enabling our clients to live independently, safely, and comfortably in their own homes. Your compassionate care and support will enhance their quality of life and overall wellbeing. Each client will have individual care requirements, and you will support them with elements of daily living, such as:

  • Personal Care: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Mobility Support: Help clients with safe transfers and mobility, including the use of mobility aids.
  • Household Assistance: Help with light housekeeping tasks, meal planning, preparation, and feeding.
  • Emotional Support: Provide companionship, meaningful engagement, and emotional support through conversation and activities.
  • Community Engagement: Accompany clients to appointments, social events, or community activities to promote social inclusion.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications and perform health-related tasks as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Health Monitoring: Check and document vital signs, assist with exercises or physical therapy routines, and monitor for side effects.
