We are currently hiring on behalf of the Government of Manitoba and are welcoming Home Support Workers to apply for upcoming potential opportunities to provide care and support to children/adults with disabilities, behavioural and/or emotional needs in the community. Experience in pediatrics, community healthcare, and adult care is an asset. Shifts are typically on an as needed basis due to variations in client care needs.
Hourly rate: $19/hour
Schedule: 12-hour (7 am-7 pm, 7 pm-7 am) or 8-hour shifts (8 am-4 pm, 4 pm-12 am, 12 am-8 am)
Work location: community, residential homes, group homes, participant residence, or home share

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Grade 12 education or support worker certificate from an accredited school in Manitoba
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) within 3 months
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate
• Current Adult Abuse Registry Check (AARC) within 3 months
• Current Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC) within 3 months
• Up-to-date immunization record and negative TB result
• Valid government issued ID
• Valid driver’s license and operating vehicle or reliable transportation
• Available for the schedule above, with flexibility to cover shifts upon short notice

Experience:

• Home Support Worker: 1 year (preferred

• Provide client specific interventions as defined in the Unified Referral and Intake System (URIS)
• Perform routine health-care procedures delegated by the nurse as well as non-health care procedures upon consultation with Manitoba Health
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Provide mobility and transfer support using appropriate assistive devices
• Prepare or provide meals, assist with feeding, and monitor food and fluid intake
• Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning dishes, and tidying client areas
• Walk children to and from school or accompany clients to medical appointments, shopping, and other community outings
• Accurately document care activities and report significant changes or concerns to designated supervisor
• Collaborate and communicate clearly with families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect clients, family, and staff
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
