JOB SUMMARY

  • Conduct home construction site inspections to ensure builders are conducting quality work, follow building code requirements and obtaining municipal building official inspection, etc.
  • Inspect / investigate homes for homeowners and builders regarding 1st yr. complaint items, warranty standards and provide reports.
  • Network with industry, provide awareness and assistance
  • Possess competent knowledge, skills willingness to learn in the operation of computer and software programs such; as word, emails, excel, acrobat, etc.

EXPERIENCE

  • Should posses related experience in the construction industry re; past builder, carpenter, project manager, construction sales, home insurance adjusting, building inspector, etc.
  • Lesser experience may be acceptable depending on the level of formal education

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High School or equivalent with quality experience
  • Possesses competent knowledge and skills in the operation of the computer and software programs relevant to the position. For example, excel, word, acrobat, online system, and e-mail

IDEAL EDUCATION

  • Secondary diploma in construction management, Engineering or Architectural Technology
  • Level -1 certification from a Building Official Association
  • Must be willing to conduct on the job education & upgrading
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday business day
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license

MATURITY, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess the ability to respond to complaints and inquiries to enforce applicable warranty program standards while maintaining satisfactory working relationships amongst all parties involved.
  • Must have knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and of materials and methods used in building construction, ability to read building construction plans, specifications and identify deviations from such plans during field inspections.
  • Must possess the ability to recognize faulty construction.
  • Must be diplomatic and an effective communicator.
  • Must have good writing skills to maintain accurate, complete, and current records, report and data entry.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and be capable of working without direct supervision.
  • Examines plans and inspects projects concurrently.
  • Provides a significant degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion to find independent solutions to problems.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
