Description

ABOUT THE TEAM

It’s an exciting time to be working in housing at Bath & North East Somerset. We are implementing an organisational change programme and have recently launched our Housing Plan 2025-30 which sets out ambitious actions for housing over the next 5 years.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic Homelessness Review & Policy Officer to join our high performing housing options and homelessness team tasked with making a real difference supporting families and individuals at risk of homelessness.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The postholder will report to the Homelessness Response Manager. They will be responsible for carrying out formal reviews of homelessness decisions, decisions not to provide temporary accommodation, investigating service complaints, and developing policy initiatives related to the prevention of homelessness and the reduction in the use of temporary accommodation.
You will be an integral part of the homelessness response team, consisting of approximately 20-25 staff members who manage the complete spectrum of housing options and homelessness services, including housing allocations and the commissioning of housing support. This is a high-achieving team with a relatively low number of households in temporary accommodation, which is a testament to their great work.
This is a full time role, 37 hours per week, permanent contract.
The post holder primary workplace is the Civic Centre, Keynsham. However, alternative workplaces, including home based working, can also be used with the agreement of the manager.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS SUBJECT TO A BASIC DBS CHECK.

Safeguarding Statement: The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable groups and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of this commitment anyone working in a post with children or vulnerable groups will be expected to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with/without barred list checks.
