Come be a part of something exceptional at RTC Aerospace!  How You’ll Make an Impact  The Hone Set-up Operator is responsible for setting up and operating honing machines to produce precision metal parts to exacting specifications. This role requires strong manufacturing skills, a thorough understanding of machine operations and controls, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement as part of a world-class manufacturing team.     What you’ll be doing as a Hone Setup Operator: * Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location. * Set up, adjust, and operate honing machines to perform precision finishing operations on metal parts. * Lift, position, and secure parts in machine holding fixtures. * Move machine controls to feed tools into part, engage automatic feed, and monitor operation. * Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions, tool wear, or out-of-tolerance conditions; report discrepancies to lead or supervisor. * Change worn cutting tools and replace or adjust tooling as needed using appropriate hand tools. * Thoroughly inspect first-piece runs and verify part conformance using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges). * Adjust cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut to achieve specified finishes and tolerances. * Read and interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications. * Recognize and report production problems or nonconforming conditions to supervision. * Perform minor assembly operations as needed (fastening parts with nuts, bolts, and screws). * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all prescribed safety regulations and company guidelines. * Complete assigned tasks within required timeframes and with minimal supervision. * Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience): * Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of machine shop operations, speeds, and feeds. * Ability to set up and operate machine tools safely and efficiently. * Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges). * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions. * Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and maintain concentration for long periods. * Consistent punctuality, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience): * Completion of vocational or college training in machining or manufacturing (certificate or equivalent). * Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to apply shop math to machining operations. * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Experience using Microsoft Office applications. * Familiarity with basic machine language and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.   Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of this job. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.   Compensation and Benefits:    Employee Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability and 401(k) with up to 6% QACA company match.  The Hone Setup Operator Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $25/hr-$30/hr commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
