Brooklyn United is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering youth through music, movement, and mentorship. Our programming blends discipline, creativity, and culture to create unforgettable performance experiences and personal growth opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in one or more brass instruments (Trumpet, Trombone, etc.)
• Prior teaching, coaching, or instructional experience preferred
• Ability to connect with youth in a structured but encouraging way
• Familiarity with marching band or show band style is a plus
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Punctual, dependable, and organized

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We’re seeking a skilled and reliable Horns Instructor to lead, inspire, and train a group of young musicians. You’ll be responsible for building fundamental brass technique, developing musical repertoire for performances, and creating a high-energy, respectful learning environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead weekly rehearsals with horn section (Trumpets, Trombones, Mellophones, etc.)
• Teach proper brass technique, tone, articulation, and marching style (as needed)
• Develop performance pieces that match the energy and style of BU events
• Provide individual and group feedback to students to foster improvement
• Collaborate with the percussion and dance instructors to align performances
• Attend occasional staff meetings and performance events (as scheduled)
• Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere, rooted in mentorship
