Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POST

The service delivers a range of activities that are based on the assessed needs of the residents and how they wish to spend their days.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will need to engage with residents and support them in developing their skills in plant care.
Maintain horticulture area with support in allotments area.
Meet with MA manager weekly to plan the areas activities.
Maintain a weekly diary of events and attendance at these events.
Work with small groups of four residents on a session basis as per structured timetable with activity staff support in horticulture: delivering meaningful activity with a focus on plants, flowers and wellbeing.
Work with MA manager on project work within Horticulture department and garden.
Attend all mandatory training and essential training where appropriate
Promote meaningful activity with a person-centred approach.
Ordering of suitable plants and materials and linking with other Horticultures projects or professionals where appropriate and agreed by MA Manager.
Abide by the policies of the organisation

QUALITY, RISK & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

It is the responsibility of all staff to:

  • Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements with regard to Quality, Risk and Safety.
  • Participate and cooperate with external agencies on safety initiatives as required.
  • Participate and cooperate with internal and external evaluations of hospital structures, services and processes as required, including but not limited to:
  • National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare.
  • National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections.
  • HSE Standards and Recommended Practices for Healthcare Records Management
  • Safety audits and other audits specified by the HSE or other regulatory authorities.
  • To initiate, support and implement quality improvement initiatives in their area which are in keeping with the hospital’s continuous quality improvement programme.

It is the responsibility of all managers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for Quality, Safety and Risk within their area/department.
