Check us out online at www.capstonehospice.com As the CNA Scheduler you will provide training and support to the CNA new to Capstone and those who have opportunities for improvement. This position will provide guidance to the CNA on how to aide and understand the family and in time of bereavement. This position will require communication, organization, detail and patience as you orient and train the CNA. The Capstone Hospice dedicated CNA team is responsible for providing quality care and support to our patients who are in the final stages of their life while providing understanding and emotional support to the families. The CNA is responsible for providing the care and assistance to patients in their private homes and Assisted Living Facility (ALF) by following the direction of the IDG care plan under the direction of the RN. The CNA Staff Development Coordinator will work primarily in the field and in the office during new hire orientation at the Capstone office located in Peachtree Corners. This position will be a member of the Staff Development department. Requirements Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be eligible: High school diploma or GED. Graduate from an approved training and competency course. Must meet federal Home Health Aide training and competency requirements. Minimum 2 years of experience as a hospice nursing assistant. Training experience Active patient contact within past three years, preferred. Experience in using iPad technology to include experience documentation in an EMR. To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities. Ability to work independently, make accurate and at time quick judgements. Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting. Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes. Strong organizational skills. Basic computer skills. Essential Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Staff Development Manager, provide ongoing supervision of CNA development, educating and assisting in essential personal care assistance to the patient: · Bath, care of mouth, skin and hair. · Bathroom or in using bedpan or commode. · Bed transfers as well as ambulation activities as ordered under the care plan. · Range of motion exercises which the Aide has been taught by appropriate professional personnel. · Performing such incidental household services as are essential to the patient’s well-being at home. Teaching and models emotional support and compassionate care for the patient and family unit. · Demonstrates listening skills. · Offers encouragement when appropriate. · Practices patience in voice and manner. Educates required competency and skills: · How to document initial and ongoing every 14-day supervision and evaluation by RN on each case assignment. · Process for daily documentation of CNA visits, mileage and timecard. · Contribute feedback in the aide performance review. Maintain requirements as a Certified Nursing Aide: Practices Standard Precautions according to OSHA regulations and policy. Adheres to all policies and procedural guidelines. Attends at least twelve (12) hours of in-service education programs per year. Maintains current certification as required by the State. Maintains current knowledge and practice of infectious disease protocols. JOB FACTORS Physical Requirements: · Requires considerable physical effort most of the day including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking. · Exposure to temperature and humidity changes. · Maximal assist in lifting and/or transferring of a patient that weighs 100 or more pounds. · Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties of the position. · Must provide evidence of annual TB test and other state-required tests or examinations. Mental Requirements: · Must be able to work independently, make judgments based on assessments and data available and act accordingly. · Must be flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills. · Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability. Working Conditions: Be able to tolerate exposure to elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrement, adverse environmental conditions and hazardous materials. Flexibility to work in office or field setting. Transportation: Must have a current valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation. This position is full-time, salaried-exempt paid position.
