COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant CFO / Controller supports the financial leadership of facility by managing daily financial operations and assisting with strategic financial planning. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective oversight of accounting functions. The Assistant CFO / Controller also provides leadership to the accounting team and acts as a key liaison between the CFO, department directors, and staff. This is an “at will” position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Aptitude to adapt to change and create an environment that supports change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in interpreting complex financial information.
  • Expertise in accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting systems.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and accounting software; healthcare EMR experience a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in patient, staff and business matters.
  • Proven leadership and staff development capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy in a dynamic environment.
  • Provide strategic and operational contribution for the organization and direct oversight of assigned departments and staff, utilize skills to mentor and develop others.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business, health care administration, finance or accounting is preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience and responsibility in healthcare finance including at least two (2) years of financial management/director level experience for a hospital or healthcare system preferred.
  • Experience balancing strategic financial planning with operational accounting oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Support the CFO in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and organizational financial decision-making.
  • Oversee the daily accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting accuracy, accountability, and professional development.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, including preparation and response to audit inquiries.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide reports to CFO and leadership to aid decision-making.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the Accounting Manager, who is responsible for managing the accounting team and their processes.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the Revenue Cycle Director and revenue cycle processes, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements and key performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with department directors and administrative teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects, financial modeling, and system improvements assigned by the CFO.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational standards.
