Job Title: Hospital Catering Assistant

Location: Southport & Formby District General Hospital, PR8 6PN
Shift Pattern: Monday - Sunday, 37.5hrs between 07.30 - 20.00 , 5 days/week on a rota basis
Band & Pay: Band 2 - £12.21 - £22.37 per hour

REQUIREMENTS:

• must be able to start at 0730am in most cases
• Experience in a similar role
• Food Safety L2 OR Food Hygiene Certificate (Mandatory)
• Food hygiene knowledge
• A good understanding of spoken and written English.
• Experience in a similar role (though full training given)

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for motivated and reliable Catering Assistants to join our hospital catering teams. As a vital part of the patient care journey, you’ll play an essential role in preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring high standards of hygiene and service throughout.
You’ll be responsible for supporting the kitchen team with food preparation, ward meal service, and maintaining a clean and safe catering environment. Whether you’re plating up meals or delivering food to wards, your role directly impacts patient experience and recovery.
This is a hands-on position that requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering great service every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidates will work as part of the catering team which plates up all the patients’ meals
Washing the returning food trolleys, crockery, and cutlery.
Any general cleaning that is needed.
