Description

Under the direction of Nursing and Human Resources, the Clinical Teacher/Educator serves as the Hospital Educator responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development and educational programs for all hospital staff, including clinical and non-clinical personnel. This role collaborates with department leaders across inpatient, outpatient, and support services to assess learning needs and deliver targeted education that promotes excellence in patient care, safety, compliance, and staff engagement. The Educator ensures that training initiatives align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from an accredited Bachelor’s degree program of nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year of psychiatric experience
  • Successful completion of Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation, AMSR, and BLS, provided by INBH

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Education or Nursing
  • Experience with infection control and or employee health
  • Demonstrated experience in staff education, training, or professional development
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • At least one (1) year experience in clinical competency testing, orientation, training, and policy development highly desirable
Responsibilities

  • Assess, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive education programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs and professional development needs of clinical staff
  • Develops curricula that is reflective of evidence-based practice and uses the appropriate methods of teaching to accommodate learning styles and the learning environment
  • Supports the implementation of management decisions that affect clinical practice. Plans educational programming for new or changing programs of care
  • Assists in development of clinical policies, procedures, and delegation protocols as requested
  • Provides guidance, knowledge and acts as a clinical resource for clinical staff
  • Participates in strategic planning, ad hoc projects and educational activities as assigned to clinical departments
  • Communicate and educate all clinical staff of policy and procedure changes and updates
  • Develop, implement, and oversee annual competency for clinical staff (RN, LPN, MHT, Social Work, Rec Therapy) through Staff Driven Competency Process
  • Work with clinic managers and leadership to provide clinical remediation for select clinical staff
  • Represent Clinical Staff Education on organizational committees as needed, such as Quality Committee
  • Evaluates the staff education plan and annual goals
