Uses clinical coding expertise based on the Official Coding Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, and the Society of Interventional Radiology to assign ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes. Works closely with charging staff, physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialist, quality, and patient finance staff. Plays a key role in billing, research, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance. Follows-up on CCI edits, claim rejections, CDM and other issues impacting the quality and facilitation of billing and reimbursement. The incumbent will also ensure accuracy of APCs, CPT code links for IR procedures, and appropriate extraction of core data into HIM abstracting system to data warehouse repository. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Three years of interventional cardiology and interventional radiology coding. CIRCC preferred or CPC, CPC-H, CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P certified. Must complete coding proficiency evaluation. Anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical pharmacology, basic PC skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks.
