Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Works under Prisma Health Ambulance Service with daily direction from the on-duty charge nurse and attending Physician. Assesses and treats patients according to clinical operating guidelines. Serves as a member of the healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. Provides for patient safety. Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy. Contributes to the growth and development of self and department. Maintains an active involvement. Maintains good working relationship with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff. Maintains competence with charting system. Collects data and completes patient's orders utilizing appropriate area and/or age specific standards/policies and tools. Completes appropriate forms. Assesses and recognizes subtle or actual changes in patients' status and patient response to intervention. Identifies patient priorities for patient plan of care and validates these priorities with the healthcare team members and documents appropriately. Performs specific tasks based on organizational, departmental and/or unit policies and procedures within the Paramedic scope of practice. Assumes responsibility for patient safety by maintaining a safe environment to include awareness of safety procedures, protocols and adherence to patient care standards. Provides care based on patient and unit priorities, coordinating and organizing tasks as appropriate, utilizing known resources internal and external to the unit. Utilizes appropriate technology in daily practice (EHR, Pyxis, Telemetry, emergency equipment). Identifies/assesses patient/family learning needs. Participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives. Attends meetings and in services as required by departmental policy. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements Education - Certification Program. Experience - One (1) year of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience in a hospital.
