MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline; and two (2) years of full-time supervisory experience of a payroll and timekeeping operation; or,
  2. High school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and four (4) years of full-time experience in accounting, payroll and/or timekeeping.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under direction, is responsible for the management of timekeeping and payroll accounting activities of a health care setting. Ensures optimal utilization of resources and compliance of payroll with NYC Health + Hospitals, health care setting, and all applicable federal, state, local and other relevant regulations; performs related work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises and manages the payroll department for a health care setting ensuring accurate and timely payrolls and maintaining compliance with all appropriate regulations.
  2. Maintains and directs the flow of timekeeping and payroll records in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  3. Acts as a liaison between the System Central Office Payroll department and health care setting regarding payroll matters. Collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient and accurate payroll processing, as necessary.
  4. Assists in the resolution of payroll-related inquiries or complaints from employees in a timely and professional manner by providing relevant information.
  5. Reconciles reports of personnel changes and budget modifications to ensure payroll accounting is accurate and compliant with policies.
  6. Gathers and accurately reports payroll data.
  7. Answers inquiries and correspondence related to timekeeping and payroll activities.
