The BMH medical staff includes more than 130 board-certified providers in primary care and many other specialties, with a shared mission of providing exceptional health care delivered with compassion and respect. The Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Health System includes the BMH Medical Group, a multispecialty group practice of primary care and specialty care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Over 110 active volunteers assist BMH’s 700 employees in caring for our community. A Hospitalist Physician is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized patients. The role includes diagnosing, treating, and coordinating care for patients during their hospital stay, working closely with specialists, nurses, and support staff to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The candidate should have excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate is committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care. Specialty backup includes surgeons to perform central line insertions, respiratory therapists, Emergency Medicine physicians and CRNAs. Brattleboro Memorial Hospital will consider J1-Visa candidates. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct care and management for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharges. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Coordinate and collaborate with specialists, primary care physicians, and ancillary services. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory work. Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and thorough manner. Respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative care as needed (e.g., codes, rapid response). Participate in quality improvement initiatives, hospital committees, and performance evaluations. Provide education and guidance to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and care plans. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and regulatory standards. No procedures required.' Participate in clinical rounds and meetings with other health care providers. Requirements QUALIFICATION EDUCATION: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS: 2-3 years' experience as a Hospitalist preferred Experience in rural health preferred but not required. Vent management experience required. Experience running codes. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Active an unrestricted Vermont State medical license. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
