Description COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR POSITION SUMMARY: The Hospitality Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day tasks for new and existing guests who are aspiring to be Apprentices and or participate in Work Therapy; working interdepartmentally, to manage and maintain the upkeep of assigned task. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR CORE WORK PRINCIPLE: Colossians 3:23 is the foundation of URM’s standard for employment, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.” The goal for each employee is to enrich and sustain a humble heart attitude; to enrich and sustain a mindset of serving others, treating them with kindness and truth; and to enrich and sustain a zealous desire for achieving work objectives without any ulterior motives or agendas. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for recruitment, orientation, engagement and retention; works closely with all Department Leads/Managers. Coordinate and facilitate all meetings, training and curriculum development for Apprentices and Work Therapy participants. Liaison between all Departments and participants. Plan and host new participant orientations; give tours of the facility, as needed. Work closely with all emergency services program administrators, leads and management. Facilitate conflict resolution and intervene to diffuse any potential volatile and/or hostile situations, as needed. Attend scheduled department/team meetings, as requested. Conduct other duties and projects as assigned by the Manager of Programs. Commitment to URM mission, vision, and core values. Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS: In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requirements HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES: Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred. Bilingual (Spanish), preferred. Prior experience working with or serving homeless families, preferred. Minimum of 2-year prior experience in a customer service-oriented setting; ideally with non-profit organization work, preferred. Managing volunteers, preferred. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent organization skills Must have intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be internet savvy. Flexible schedule: willing to work on weekends and evenings, as needed. Must possess excellent people and customer service skills and be comfortable speaking in a large group setting and conducting tours of the facility.
