ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Estates Directorate is responsible for the delivery of the Estate Strategy, which covers the areas of major construction and refurbishment projects; facilities operation and space management, including catering and energy management. The Directorate aims to ensure that the quality, functionality and operation of the estate and its associated infrastructure meets the needs of its users and supports the activities of SOAS.
About the Role
The Hospitality Supervisor will be responsible for the successful running of the SOAS Events and hospitality functions; delivering a seamless and excellent quality catering and hospitality service, ensuring sustained customer satisfaction by meeting service standards. This will include effective supervision, monitoring and guidance of the team; this will include training new members, placing orders of provisions and equipment, stock count and planning logistics around scheduled events.
The key purpose of the role is to carry out duties to ensure service level agreements are met, whilst providing supervisory duties of the hospitality services team including continuous improvement. The role holder will have a commitment to providing excellent customer service to enhance the Estate and the student experience alongside working with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. The post holder needs to be aware of the nature of the spaces and to be able to work with a diligent positive and professional attitude.
Candidates will need a pleasant manner and to enjoy working with a wide variety of people. Experience of working with the Higher Education sector would be an advantage. Candidates should be able to demonstrate supervisory skills and a willingness to cope with a variety of routine tasks. The role also requires an ability to respond immediately to requests.
Reporting to the Senior Conference & Hospitality Coordinator, they will coordinate the operations within policies and procedures, maintain customer satisfaction levels, health, hygiene and safety standards at all times. They will foster a culture of safe working environment and will constantly engage with guests, students and staff to look for opportunities to enhance our offer within SOAS hospitality.
