Hospitality & Venue Services Assistant Reference number: 11063 Closing date: 11:00pm, Thursday 26 February 2026 Part-time permanent position working 19 hours a week. Salary commencing at $78,842.82 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience. Band 4. The Opportunity Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Hospitality & Venue Services Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality hospitality, catering and venue services at the Clocktower Centre. The Clocktower Centre is a vibrant performing arts venue and venue-for-hire, hosting a diverse range of civic, commercial and community events. Working closely with the Team Leader Hospitality & Venue Services, this role plays a key part in delivering professional functions, meetings, café and bar services, while ensuring an exceptional experience for clients, patrons and performers. Key Responsibilities Deliver welcoming, friendly and professional customer service as frontline hospitality staff for functions, meetings, café, bar and theatre events Assist with the coordination and delivery of civic and commercial functions, acting as the main point of contact for clients on the day Support café and bar operations, including responsible service of alcohol, cash handling and POS systems Assist with food preparation, service, room set-ups and pack-downs using commercial catering equipment Ensure compliance with food safety, liquor licensing, OH&S and emergency management procedures Supervise and support casual hospitality and front-of-house staff when required Maintain accurate operational records, including incident reports, RSA registers and daily event reports Contribute to a positive team culture and demonstrate Council’s values and behaviours Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will bring solid experience in hospitality and customer service, ideally within a corporate or events-based environment, along with demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing competing priorities. You will have a strong working knowledge of catering operations, food safety, bar and café service, cash handling and stock management, and be confident using Microsoft Office, Teams and learning new booking or procurement systems. A current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate and Safe Food Handling certification are required, with experience in a licensed venue and commercial food preparation highly regarded. Experience in café and bar operations, espresso coffee preparation, corporate or performing arts venues, and liaising with clients and suppliers will be highly valued.
