    The Westin Toronto Airport is seeking a Host with customer service skills and experience in food and beverage. This role is ideal for someone dedicated to welcoming guests to the restaurant and providing fast and courteous service to ensure an enjoyable dining experience and repeat business. Responsibilities

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Greets guests promptly and courteously; seats guests, ensuring a balanced workload among servers. Maintains an accurate waiting list as needed. Alerts guests when the table is available.
  • Assists Manager or Supervisor with opening tasks such as assigning stations to servers for meal periods and retrieving daily specials.
  • Processes take-out orders; may answer room service phone and process room service orders; practices suggestive selling techniques.
  • Receives customer payment from servers and processes transactions on the cash register as outlined in the cash and charge procedures; gives correct change; balances cash drawer at the close of the shift; completes all opening/closing paperwork; documents void on the void balance sheet.
  • May assist bus persons in clearing, cleaning, and setting tables.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. In carrying out your duties, you will follow all Company and Brand Standards

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE?

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills and 6 months of cash handling experience or food service are preferred.
  • This job requires the ability to perform the following:
  • Handling, carrying, or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Remaining stationary for extended periods.
  • Moving about the restaurant.
  • Handling food objects, plates, trays, glasses, etc.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting.
  • Other:
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and waiting staff, cooks, and supervisors.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card are required by local or state government agencies.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, describing cocktail items, completing paperwork, etc.
  • Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
