JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: The host (ess) is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter. It is the responsibility of the host (ess) to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the host(ess).   PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Monitoring open tables within the establishment. 2. Estimating wait times for guests 3. Monitoring server rotation book and ensuring accuracy 4. Answering phone in a polite and respectful manner. 5. Schedule dining reservations and arrange parties or special services for diners. 6. Greet guests, escort them to tables, and provide menus. 7. Moving tables together to accommodate large parties. 8. Inspect dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisition table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.   MINIMUM EDUCATION:   High School or GED preferred. EXPERIENCE: None – will train. COMPUTER SKILLS:   N/A EQUIPMENT USED: Dishwasher and hot sprayer to hose down dishes. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:   Hectic kitchen environment, slippery surface that must be monitored and only non-skid shoes will be allowed. COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS: Active listening skills and ability to articulate information both verbally and in writing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   Normal speech, hearing, and vision.  Reaching, lifting of 50 pounds (more with assistance).   Walking and standing for extended periods of time. SAFETY: Follow all FGCC safety programs, safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Wear, use and enforce all FGCC personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed on specific jobs and tasks. Be aware of chemical safety and be familiar with all pertinent Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of chemicals which are used in the workplace.    Follow all FGCC safety rules including all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to work at FGCC. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:   Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously; maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations.  Ability to get along well with others.
Responsibilities
The host is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, and monitoring table rotations. They also ensure the dining area is clean and organized while providing a positive first impression of the restaurant.
