Job Details Job Location: COMANCHE CACHE CASINO - CACHE, OK Education Level: Not Specified Salary Range: Undisclosed Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Any Job Category: Restaurant - Food Service Description SCOPE OF POSITION: The Host/Hostess is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the operation within the dining room of the restaurant. The host/hostess position is very vital to any restaurant but is often overlooked due to roles played by other members of staff in the restaurant. The host/hostess will ensure that the meal and beverages provided in the restaurant are served in the most welcoming manner. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are major duties and are not intended to be all inclusive or restrictive. Makes sure all the menus are well wiped, are free of stains or spots and are complete. Ensures that the entry doors are hygienic and free from debris as well as welcoming. Checks with the manager to familiarize with any private parties to be held at the restaurant. Checks the kitchen to make sure everything is in place. Keeps an eye on the dining room, bathrooms, entryway, and ensuring that cleanliness is maintained in all operations. Greets guests politely and escorts them to their respective tables, pulls out seats for them and ensures they are comfortable. Makes sure the guests are seated and are well served. Says goodbye to guests and enquires from them about the quality of services provided at the restaurant. This also involves checking with the guests to record any problem experienced. Performs other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must possess excellent guest service skills, strong telephone etiquette and be a self-starter with the ability to multitask, follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision. Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment. Ability to clearly communicate, read and write in English. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or verbal form. Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment. Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask, follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as well as to gain the cooperation of guests and fellow team members. The host/hostess may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve contentious issues with difficult guests and staff members. Qualifications EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Working experience in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant/catering facility preferred but not required. Maintains a current Food Handler’s card and alcohol service permit if required. Working knowledge of employee scheduling in a hospitality environment.
