Your responsibilities as a host/hostess will include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Welcome guests as they arrive, assist them with seating arrangements, and provide any necessary information about the venue, such as menu options or event schedules.
- Guide guests to their assigned tables or assist them in selecting seating arrangements based on their preferences and the availability of tables.
- Maintain the management system, including recording bookings, confirming reservations, and allocating tables accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and other staff members to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
- Respond to guest inquiries, address concerns, and provide information about the venue, menu items, special promotions, or events.
- Keep the hostess station and waiting area clean and organized, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests.
- Retrieve prepared food orders from the kitchen and ensure they are accurately matched with the corresponding table and order (i.e. food running).
- Clear out and then reset tables efficiently with clean linens, utensils, and condiments for incoming guests (i.e. bussing).
- Wipe down (polish) and sanitize tables and chairs to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Accommodate special requests from guests, such as seating preferences, dietary restrictions, or special occasions, with professionalism and courtesy.
- Maintain a waitlist during peak times, provide estimated wait times to guests, and manage seating arrangements to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Proactively engage with guests to ensure their needs are met, and they have a positive experience, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
- Promote special menu items, promotions, or events to guests, encouraging them to enhance their experience and increase revenue for the establishment.
- Coordinate with the relevant departments to distribute takeout orders.
- Any other responsibilities connected and ancillary to the job function assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of restaurant operations and menu items (depending on the establishment)
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
