Description POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Supervisor, greets, seats and cashes out customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. · Greets and shows patrons to their dining table. · Computes bills, itemizes lists and balances tickets. · Makes change, cashes checks and issues receipts or tickets to patrons. · Records amounts received and prepare reports of transactions. · Reads and records total shown on cash register tape and verify it against cash on hand. · Quotes prices and describes features of items for which money is received. · Gives cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise. · Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required. · Performs other duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS · Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations and customer service. · Knowledge of all menu items including entrees, side dishes, beverages and deserts. · Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with other staff and general public. · Ability to service customers in a professional appearance and manner. · Ability to follow instructions and work in a stressful and busy environment. · Must complete the Food Handler’s Training instructions online and obtain the Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of employment. The Certificate must be updated every 2 years. · Must complete the Arizona Title 4 BASIC Liquor Law Training class and obtain the Certificate of Completion within 90 days of employment. The Certificate must be updated every 3 years. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is generally performed in the Casino’s dining room and kitchen area with exposure to heat, fumes and steam. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Some experience in the restaurant or food service area as wait staff or cashier. Must be 18 years of age. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
The host is responsible for greeting and seating patrons while managing financial transactions such as computing bills and processing payments. They must also maintain accurate transaction records and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced dining environment.
