Job Details Position Type: Part Time AFS-USA is part of a worldwide network of AFS partner organizations that work together to advance global education and foster meaningful connections across cultures. As the network’s largest partner, AFS-USA works to increase the global competency of U.S. citizens by providing a variety of international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities. We are proud of our staff from our national office in New York City as well as home offices across the county, who collaborate with our more than 2,000 AFS-USA Volunteers to deliver high quality programs and global education resources. These include immersion-based study abroad experiences in over 40 countries worldwide; opportunities to host foreign AFS exchange students; and global learning workshops and curricula for educator, schools and businesses. AFS-USA is seeking a detail-oriented Hosting Operations Advisor to join our Hosting Operations team on a part-time basis. This role supports daily operations related to student and host family application screening and customer service. The Hosting Operations Advisor plays a key role in ensuring compliance with AFS-USA standards, AFS International requirements, U.S. Department of State regulations, and CSIET standards, while maintaining accurate and timely data in internal systems. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Review student applications from AFS partner countries to determine eligibility Follow up with partner countries regarding missing or incomplete application content Review host family applications and supporting documentation for eligibility Contact host family references by email and/or phone as needed Update host family acceptance statuses using established reporting tools Provide timely, professional, and accurate responses to host families, partner organizations, and internal staff QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience Administrative experience required Proficiency with common office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs) Experience working with databases and online systems Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Excellent customer service skills (written and phone) WORK EXPECTATIONS: The work hours are generally 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday; however, given the nature of this position and the necessity to work closely with volunteers, the specific schedule of this role will be discussed with the hiring manager. U.S. candidates considered. SALARY: The compensation for this position is $19/hr., 20 hours per week. This position is eligible for overtime pay and sick & safe time.
