Description The Hostler Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard to support warehouse operations, including staging for inbound and outbound shipments. This role is essential to maintaining dock flow, minimizing delays, and ensuring trailers are positioned according to operational priorities. Because hostlers frequently interact with both client and vendor drivers, a friendly and professional demeanor is important to maintaining positive working relationships and representing the company well on-site. Requirements Key Responsibilities and Duties: Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers between designated areas Spot trailers at dock doors for loading/unloading Perform pre and post trip inspections of equipment Communicate with warehouse and dispatch teams to coordinate trailer movements Maintain accurate records of trailer locations and movements Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company procedures Report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly Complete other duties as assigned Abilities: Lift up to 50 lbs. safely and repeatedly throughout the shift. Walk, stand, and climb in and out of trucks frequently during yard operations. Work effectively in outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. Safely maneuver trailers in tight and high-traffic yard environments. Respond quickly to changing priorities and trailer movement schedules. Maintain situational awareness and spatial judgment during trailer operations. Identify and report safety or equipment concerns in real time. Qualifications and Skills needed: High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience in yard operations, hostling, or trailer spotting preferred Familiarity with trailer types, yard layouts, and safe maneuvering practices Strong communication skills to coordinate with warehouse, dispatch, and external drivers Basic mechanical awareness to identify equipment issues CDL is a plus but not required Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with client and vendor drivers RK Qualities Adherence to all RK Safety, Quality, ISO and HR policies and standards RK Logistics Group will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act.
