KITCHEN PORTER

At the Royal Marine Hotel, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards across all departments. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a key role in supporting our culinary team by ensuring the kitchen and back-of-house areas are clean, safe, and well-organized. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential
Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
Commitment to hygiene and safety standards

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in safely storing equipment and preventing breakages
Check product quality and consistency daily
Record breakages to support reordering and budgeting
Ensure efficient service to internal customers
Identify and communicate needs for tools and utensils to meet standards
Maintain cleanliness throughout kitchen and back-of-house areas
Follow and document cleaning schedules and procedures
Clean appliances, vents, hoods, and extracts using approved methods
Clean the staff canteen and back-of-house corridors as needed
Remove and dispose of kitchen refuse according to procedures
Store crockery, glassware, and cutlery correctly
Maintain cleanliness and organization in ware wash and pot wash areas
Deep clean the compactor area and hotel backyard periodically
Ensure sufficient quantities of items are available for kitchen operations
Clean buffet areas after breakfast and lunch service
Clean fridges and any soiled kitchen areas as required
Complete AM/PM departmental checklists and ensure all duties are finished before leaving
Follow HACCP standards and food safety procedures
Periodically clean china, glass, and silverware as needed
