Responsibilities
  • Register guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible.
  • Assists in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations.
  • Thoroughly understand and adhere to proper credit check- cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Understand room status and room status tracking.
  • Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel like breakfast, transportation bookings, dinner.
  • Know the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property.
  • Coordinate with other departments in depending on the guest needs and room cleanliness needs.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the reservations department. Take same day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Know cancellation procedures.
  • Receive, screen all incoming phone calls and connect them to appropriate personnel.
  • Sort out and hand over important packages, deliveries.
  • Performing cashier related functions like posting charges to guest accounts, understanding if there is any outstanding balance and follow up to receive payment.
  • Works closely with the housekeeping department in the keeping room status reports
  • Uses proper telephone etiquette and greeting face to face etiquette.
  • Advice guest of any messages, mail, faxes, etc. received for them.
  • Issue parking passes/validate valet parking tickets.
  • Communicate services and amenities of the hotel to guests.
  • Is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Handover before finishing the shift with the colleagues taking over the shift to ensure good communication and best guest service.
  • Attend department meetings and updates and trainings.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the line manager or Manager on Duty or Operations Manager.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area.
  • Able to handle leisure complex receptionist responsibilities in maintaining H&S and advising guests about H&S while they are using leisure complex facilities
