POSITION SUMMARY:

The Classroom AV Technician provides first-level user support for AV equipment and systems in classrooms, participates in their ongoing maintenance, and assists in maintaining related documentation. Additionally, the position provides oversight for a team of student AV Technicians when no full-time MTSS staff members are available.
This position is capped at 29 hours per week and requires a flexible schedule in order to support classroom instruction. This includes regular night and weekend shifts. A sample schedule during academic semesters is Monday through Friday 5:30pm to 10pm and Saturday 8am to 2:30pm.

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years experience in a higher education environment supporting AV equipment & systems used in classroom instruction including Windows & MacOS devices, projectors, displays, document cameras, sound systems, control systems, video conferencing platforms and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting common AV-related issues and resolving technical problems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard AV protocols (HDMI, VGA, SDI, etc.) and signal distribution systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with users of varying technical knowledge.
  • At the university’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Responsibilities
  • First-Level Support & Training: Provide prompt and effective technical support for AV systems in classrooms. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to audio, video, projection, control systems, and other AV systems and equipment. Provide training and guidance on the operation of AV systems, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
