The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health of our business by ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and partnering with leadership to support operational success across all Flora-Bama businesses. Job Summary:

• Prepare monthly journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and assist with the preparation of financial statements.
• Support the CFO and leadership team by preparing budget comparison and variance reports.
• Assist in maintaining accurate balance sheets and income statements.
• Responsible for managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Support collection efforts and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Participate in cash flow analysis and assist with daily cash management functions.
• Ensure accurate and timely bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Assist in the payroll process in partnership with the Office Manager and HR Director.
• Monitor departmental expenses and partner with managers to support adherence to budgets.
• Help track licenses, permits, and other recurring financial obligations.
• Participate in timely and accurate month-end close procedures.
• Work collaboratively across departments to improve financial processes and internal controls.
• Assist with special projects, financial analysis, or audits as assigned by the CFO.
• Support accurate year-end reporting (1099s, Form 8027, etc.).
• Attend management meetings and contribute to cross-functional discussions as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger management.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work flexible hours during peak deadlines or month-end close.
• Self-motivated, personable, and eager to contribute to a fun and engaging company culture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; CPA a plus but not required.
• Able to work weekends and holidays as required to meet deadlines.
