QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Minimum one year’s experience as a cleaner/house person for a luxury or ultra- luxury hotel or resort.
  • Education: High school diploma.
  • General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment, knowledge of proper chemical handling. Knowledge of WHIMS is an asset.
  • Language: Required to speak, read and write English. Additional language is an asset.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Licenses & Certifications: None required.
    Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
  • Clean employees’ locker rooms and restrooms as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor (Polish all brass fixtures; replenish bathroom supplies i.e. toilet paper, hand towels, soap, etc.).
  • Clean hallways in the back of the house areas and light covers as needed.
  • Sweep, mop back hallway, stairwell, and housekeeping areas.
  • Vacuum the back of the house hallways daily as needed.
  • Replenish floors with housekeeping supplies, amenities and clean linen and terries. Pick up the dirty linen from the floors.
  • Clean the stair cases on a weekly basis.
  • Deliver all items requested by guests.
  • Make up rollaway and store.
  • Make up baby cribs and store.
  • Refill room attendant’s chemical bottles (p.m. shift), and refill buckets with any missing items.
  • Pick up used dirty rugs for cleaning and replace them with clean rugs.
  • Clean all service elevators (tracks, walls, floors, etc.).
  • Pick up new supplies from loading dock.
  • Store new supplies in the proper storage areas.
  • Distribute all collaterals and new magazines to each floor.
  • Store room attendant’s cart inside the storage room, and replenish with towels, sheets and supplies to be ready for turn down service.
  • Bring all trash to compactor after recycling.
  • Must be able to perform special projects assigned by the PM supervisor.
  • Help move furniture.
  • Always use proper safety signage
  • Perform general cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, mopping etc.) of the Hotel’s public areas including relevant washrooms, polish floors.
  • Perform Carpet Shampoo and upholstery cleaning
  • Ensure proper cleaning in all food & beverage outlets (floors, windows, mirrors, table tops, artwork, light fixtures)
  • Current role is responsible to maintain the passing standards of LQA and Forbes yearly audits.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and usage of the Hotel’s fireplace
  • Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow employees.
  • All other duties as required.
