We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time Housekeeper & Laundry Assistants to join our team at a well-established nursing home in Cavan. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents and staff.

REQUIREMENTS

To routinely clean residents bedrooms, communal areas, administrative offices, treatment rooms, storage areas, and all toilet and bathroom facilities as set out in the daily task lists. The main tasks including cleaning furniture & floors and ensuring the environment is left clean and safe for both residents and staff. Using cleaning supplies and equipment are an essential part of the position. Housekeepers are expected to follow all guidelines in relation to safe use of chemicals and to inspect their equipment regularly for any repairs or replacements.
Housekeepers are expected to attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
Housekeeping staff are expected to interact with residents on an ongoing basis as our ethos of care is a person centred one.

Responsibilities
  • Safe use and storage of all chemicals
  • Safe use of equipment and the reporting of any maintenance of equipment issues to maintenance department in a timely manner
  • Housekeepers trolleys - Cleaning / tidying them at the end of your shift leaving them stocked and ready for the next shift
  • Preparing rooms for new admissions, deep cleaning requirements, terminal cleaning or scheduled events
  • Day to day cleaning and disinfection of the environment as per task lists / schedules
  • Management of general waste, healthcare waste and recycling waste as per policy
  • Floor and furniture cleaning as directed by manufacturers/company policy
  • Use of compactor as required in a safe and responsible manner
  • Checking of communications book at beginning of each shift
  • Cleaning of all areas identified on daily task list
  • Maintenance of the housekeeping rooms and store ensuring stock of all housekeeping supplies
  • Maintenance of all Housekeeping records on a daily basis
  • Clean up spillages and any other miscellaneous cleaning duties that may arise
  • Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues in other departments
  • Any other reasonable housekeeping duties that may arise
  • Assisting staff with any urgent or emergency situation that may arise
  • Any deep cleaning as specified as part of cleaning schedule or infection control procedures
  • Laundry – Collect / Sort / Wash / Tidy Laundry from around the building
    Relationship with other departments: Daily interaction with Nursing, Care, Catering, Maintenance & Administration
