Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John’s, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for a part-time Housekeeper to join its growing team at The Capital Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive “can-do” attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or evening.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain assigned areas, including hotel rooms and bathrooms, following cleaning protocols
  • Dust furniture, sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, and clean windows
  • Change bed linens and towels, checking for any wear, tear, or stains, replacing with clean linens and towels
  • Empty trash and dispose of waste properly
  • Replenish essential supplies such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning products in guest rooms and on carts, maintaining the appropriate inventory levels and guest comfort
  • Handle and use cleaning chemicals and refill cleaning supplies according to safety guidelines
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Supervisor
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues and be well groomed
  • Laundry duties may be required
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Previous experience as a housekeeper or similar role is preferred
  • Provide a clear Criminal Record Screening Certificate
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks
  • Good physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and move/lift objects up to 30lbs, when necessary
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
