Description Position Summary: The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for total cleanliness of the assigned work area. Specific assignments include cleaning patient rooms, offices, washing draperies and windows. Perform daily cleaning of all areas within the facility in accordance with the current state and federal guidelines and established policies and procedures of Winner Regional Health. Flexibility and willingness to assist co-workers in a team approach is of paramount importance. Requirements Education/Experience: None Required Credentials (Licensure, Certification, or Registration): None required. Employment Variables: Work hours may vary. This is a full time position. Required to rotate weekends and holidays. May be required to be on call specified weekends and/or evenings. Initial Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening is required by Winner Regional Health. Rubella titer will also be drawn upon hire and immunization is required if no past exposure or indication of immunization. Required to wear name tag provided by WRH and to follow the dress code of WRH. Job Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal with people in a professional manner. Knowledge of housekeeping practices in a healthcare setting. Area of Responsibility Demonstrates understanding of chemical labels, appropriate application and procedure in cleaning. Practices appropriate disinfecting procedure. Cleans blood and body fluid spills according to Environmental Services procedure. Supplies Restocks housekeeping cart at end of shift with specified supplies. Informs supervisor of area needs weekly whenever necessary Replenishes soap, paper towels, toilet paper daily or sooner if needed. Maintains hopper in clean and orderly manner. Recycling Medical and General Waste Participates in sorting and/or removal of recycling. Appropriately bags and removes medical waste wearing PPE according to policy. Responds in a positive manner to special requests by other departments to remove waste. Communicates and works with other departments regarding compliance and non-compliance to waste issues. Patient Room Status Reports sub-standard condition of floors to machine operators assigned to area. Submits Maintenance Work Order for structural repair or cleaning. Contacts Supervisor when responsibilities are complete in assigned area.
