JOB TITLE:  Housekeeper (equivalent to environmental services assistant)    DEPARTMENT:  Facilities/Environmental Services   JOB RELATIONSHIPS:     Responsible to:       Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor Responsible for:      Does not supervise other employees Interrelationships:    Works cooperatively with all hospital departments     JOB SUMMARY:   Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to insure that all assigned areas of the hospital and/or the physician’s clinic are kept clean and sanitized in accordance with regulatory standards.   JOB QUALIFICATIONS:   Experience:    Relevant previous experience preferred but on-the-job training provided.   Education:      High School or equivalent.   Req. Cert. / Registration:   None required.     JOB DUTIES:   (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)     1.   Must, after brief training, be able to demonstrate the correct use of chemicals,          supplies and tools assigned.   2.   Must perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules         and using prescribed methods.   3.   Cleans and sanitizes all surfaces in assigned areas.   4.   Dust mops and wet mops all hard surface floors.   5.   Vacuums all carpet areas.   6.   Dusts and cleans tops of window, door frames, lights, vents and other high areas,         with the use of a ladder if necessary.                           7.   Cleans all bathroom and utility room fixtures.   8.   Cleans windows and mirrors as needed.   9.   Gathers and disposes of trash and waste, placing in proper bags and containers.  10.   Cleans fans and other equipment when necessary.  11.   Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for           new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation room.  12.   Replenishes rooms with supplies by refilling paper towels and soap dispensers.           Replaces sharp containers in wall units when full.  13.   Moves heavy furniture and equipment as required in order to perform cleaning          duties.  14.   Performs duties in the laundry department when assigned.  15.   Responsible for keeping housekeeping equipment and tools clean and maintained           and reports any need of  it’s repair or any damage to furniture, building and fixtures          to the maintenance staff.  16.   Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings and attends any          other meetings as required.  17.   Must be willing to work as on-call when deemed necessary by immediate          supervisor.  18.   Performs any additional tasks which may be assigned.     Shift is 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
