Mercy Ridge Retirement Community in Timonium, Maryland is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team! This is a full time non-exempt position, which may include overtime on an as needed basis. Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor is primarily responsible for the training of employees, coordination of assignments, inventory control and assisting with the activities of the Housekeeping staff (Housekeepers, Laundry Technicians and Environmental Services Technicians as needed), ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all common areas, hallways, residential units, rest rooms, dining rooms, offices and furniture in accordance with federal, state and local standards and guidelines, and to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the daily cleaning activities of department staff in the coordination of work assignments within budget, with quality and on schedule.
  • Assists in the maintenance, care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and the appearance of all housekeeping areas and rooms for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Assists with the training/orientation, development, and performance management of all EVS employees including leave requests and monitors attendance.
  • Assists with the ordering of housekeeping supplies and equipment to ensure adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Performs regular inspections of resident, ancillary and common areas for completion, sanitation, order, safety and proving a comfortable clean environment.
  • Responsible for hands on training of housekeeping staff in effective cleaning techniques and use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Coordinates and monitors housekeeping/laundry services to include resident move in, move out and responds to requests promptly.
  • Functions in the role of Director in their absence.
  • Is placed on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
  • Position requires a minimum of one to three years experience in Housekeeping, preferably in a hospitality or health care environment.
