QUALIFICATIONS

  • In depth knowledge of an academic or technical discipline normally acquired through completion of a relevant undergraduate degree (example: social work, social sciences or fields related to social and alternative housing administration) (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • 3 to 5 years directly related work experience in a residential setting governed under the Residential Tenancies Act and the Housing Services Act;
  • Excellent knowledge and working experience of Rent Geared to Income calculations and the Housing Services Act;
  • ONPHA On Line Rent Geared to Income Certificate or equivalent is required;
  • Proven experience working both independently and as part of a team in the planning and delivery of service;
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and groups and the ability to deliver culturally sensitive services in a multi cultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills with the ability to work within an anti-oppression and feminist framework;
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills;
  • An understanding of issues facing low income women and their children;
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and remain calm in a crisis;
  • Excellent organization skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with competing demands;
  • Knowledge of housing resources in the community;
  • Advanced Computer skills to include: Word, Excel, Property Management software;
  • Working knowledge of ARCORI software program an asset;
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset.
    Note: 35 hour per week position, some evenings and weekend work required; regular travelling between sites.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with interviews of all potential applicants for permanent housing;
  • Collects all required documentation related to tenancy eligibility and approval process;
  • Works in collaboration with Community Support Workers and the Associate Manager to support tenants through the annual income review process;
  • Performs initial rent calculations to determine eligibility for the Rent Geared to Income permanent housing programs; collects rent for initial payments and issue receipts;
  • Works with RGI Specialist to schedule, issue and receive necessary documents from tenants to conduct and complete annual income review, mid-year changes, and changes in household composition in accordance with funder’s guidelines;
  • Stays up-to-date concerning trends, issues information and relevant legislation including the Housing Services Act, The Residential Tenancies Act, Ontario Human Rights Code;
  • Prepares and completes lease for tenant review and signature including meeting with the tenant to review the tenant’s and landlord’s responsibilities including the requirements of the Residential Tenancies Act and Housing Services Act.
