The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia serving six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tl’etinqox, Tl’esqox, Tŝideldel, Xeni Gwet’in, and Yuneŝit’in. The Tŝilhqot’in National Government’s mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqot’in peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqot’in philosophy, values, experience and culture.
The Housing & Infrastructure Project Coordinator will support the TNG Housing & Infrastructure Department by providing coordination, technical assistance, and capacity-building services to member communities. The Housing & Infrastructure Project Coordinator will work under the direction of the Housing & Infrastructure Manager to support project delivery, develop infrastructure assessment strategies, and strengthen housing and infrastructure governance across the Tsilhqot’in Nation.
Key Responsibilities

Community Capacity Support & Training

  • Identify training gaps for community Housing Managers and coordinate training with partners such as FNMHF, TRU, VIU, BC Housing, CMHC, and ISC
  • Assist community Housing Department’s job descriptions and develop housing management training and operations manuals for communities as requested by communities
  • Assist in developing a strategy for Tŝilhqot’in Deni trades training in partnership with external institutions and community needs
  • Support forming or strengthening community Housing Committees
  • Facilitate community housing governance workshops and technical training

Infrastructure Assessment & Asset Management

  • Develop and implement a plan for completing infrastructure assessments across the six Tsilhqot’in communities, including identifying assessors and coordinating timelines
  • Support the collection, review, and integration of Building Condition Assessment (BCA) data in alignment with the BC Housing MOU commitments
  • Coordinate the implementation and onboarding of designated asset management software, including helping communities organize and enter their infrastructure data
  • Assist with FNIIP submission support, ACRS planning, and long-term capital asset tracking
  • Liaise with GIS consultants, engineers, and community staff to support the quality and usability of infrastructure data

Policy & Data Development

  • Assist in implementing Housing Charter recommendations
  • Support the refinement of standardized data templates (e.g., maintenance logs, subsidy tracking)
  • Coordinate Nation policy workshops and consultation sessions
  • Track adoption and use of regional tools and provide reporting support to TNG and funders

Housing & Construction Support

  • Research and present options for housing construction types, costs, and renovation strategies
  • Coordinate the development of preferred contractor and supplier lists
  • Support communities in drafting RFPs, funding proposals, and contract agreements

Project Coordination & Reporting

  • Attend and co-chair Tŝilhqot’in Housing & Infrastructure Working Group meetings
  • Support community engagement and develop communications and reporting materials for leadership and funders
  • Provide general support to the Housing & Infrastructure Manager on initiatives within the department’s mandate, while ensuring coordination boundaries with other TNG departments are respected
  • Ensure timely updates, tracking, and coordination of TSU-funded projects

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Indigenous governance, construction management, infrastructure planning, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with First Nations communities in a housing, infrastructure, or capacity-building role
  • Strong communication, coordination, and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of Indigenous housing issues, funding programs, and governance systems
  • Experience with project management and reporting to funders (e.g., ISC, BC Housing) is an asset
  • GIS familiarity and comfort with tracking tools and software is considered an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote communities
