Description

Broadview Housing Co-operative (BHC) is a diverse non-profit community comprised of 111 units in a 15-storey building located at Broadview and Mortimer Avenues in Toronto.
BHC is seeking a full-time Housing Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Co-op. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Housing Manager will be a reliable and collaborative self-starter with proven management skills and an interest in community service.
The Housing Manager will be accountable for the overseeing the work of a part-time Finance and Administrative assistant, a full-time contract Cleaner, a full-time contract Maintenance Superintendent, and for managing the Co-op’s contract with a Property Maintenance service provider and with various tradespeople as necessary.
Compensation includes a salary in the range $58,000 - $67,000 p.a., and a comprehensive benefits package. Occasional evening work is required to attend Board or Committee meetings.

The Housing Manager responsibilities include:

  • managing the co-op’s finances
  • developing and implementing an overall property maintenance and repair program
  • ensuring that the co-op meets its legal obligations and maintaining good relations with municipal and federal housing federations
  • developing and implementing a strategy to maintain full occupancy of the co-op
  • overseeing arrears and subsidy administration
  • supporting good governance in the co-op by the board and membership
  • efficient administration of the co-op’s office and management of other co-op staff.

The successful applicant will be

  • accountable, knowledgeable about laws, regulations, and funding that apply to housing co-operatives in Ontario
  • familiar with rent-geared-to-income program administration
  • experienced with computer programs in common use in an office environment
  • able to work effectively within a co-operative management and governance structure and relate to a diverse co-op community
  • a self-starter with an ability to work with limited direct supervision.
