JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Housing Manager to join our team at Cook’s Ferry Indian Band. Reporting directly to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations, the Housing Manager will be responsible for the planning, development, management and stewardship of the Housing Program including all band owned rental properties, Merritt, Spence’s Bridge and surrounding areas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Diploma or degree in Housing Management, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or a related field would be considered an asset.
· Experience in project management, contract administration, or procurement would be considered and asset.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing management, property management, or a related field.
· Experience in financial management and budgeting practices.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and housing management software.
· Comprehensive knowledge of housing construction, renovation methods, and building systems, including structural components and mechanical infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems).
· Experience working with First Nations communities and understanding of their unique housing needs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to undergo an appropriate background check successfully and periodically as required.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required, as some travel may be required between the Merritt Band office and Spences Bridge Band office.

Responsibilities
  • Acts as a liaison between the Chief and Council, Housing Committee, Internal Departments and community members.
  • Responds to community inquiries and assist members with housing needs.
  • Facilitates and participates Housing Committee meetings.
  • Assists with budgeting, financial reporting, and general financial duties
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including Chief and Council, government agencies, internal departments, housing committee, vendors, and community members.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and interact effectively with community members and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in preparing and delivering written and oral presentations, including responding to inquiries from internal departments heads and community members.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Confidence in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to shifting priorities, and overcome challenges.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, using tact and diplomacy when addressing disputes with internal and external parties.
  • Maintains a professional, objective, and constructive demeanor, even in challenging situations.
  • Proven ability to deliver results independently and as part of a team.
  • Provides support to crisis management team during emergencies.
