Housing Options Advisor**
We are working with a Local Authority in the South Gloucestershire area who are seeking several Housing Options Advisor to work within their Homelessness Service.
3 - 6 months agency contract / Full time - 37 hours per week - based in Bristol, BS15 9TR.
Hybrid working, however there will be a duty rota requiring face to face work at the Kingswood Civic Centre 1-2 times weekly.
Rate of pay: £17+ per hour (negotiable on experience)

EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Experience of working in a housing, homelessness, or related environment and ideally have, or be working towards, a professional/technical qualification.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Housing Act 1996 Part VII to support skills required to perform our statutory duties.
  • Local Authority / Public Sector.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Under the general supervision of the Housing Options Team Leader, the post holder will support the delivery of statutory duties to provide front-line housing advice and homelessness services to those seeking a home in South Gloucestershire.
  • Conduct the assessment of all customers approaching for housing advice and in housing need.
  • You will identify those coming under homelessness provisions including the assessment of an applicant’s eligibility under homelessness legislation, hold a caseload and will be the key point of contact during the assessment phase.
  • The assessment process includes the verification and enforcement of legal rights of occupation, completion of financial assessments, assessment of social and medical needs and collation of information available from any representatives and/or agencies to help inform a housing plan.
  • You will compile additional information as it relates to housing need or other risk information, or to gain access to relevant specialist advice or support services in order to resolve their problem(s) and prevent homelessness.
  • You will resolve the persons’ situation, concluding homelessness applications and issuing decisions at this stage.
  • Where homelessness cannot be prevented, they will determine where cases are to be referred for more intensive casework and continue to support customers where an accommodation duty is not owed, but the customer remains homeless
