Thanks to our supporters, more than 200 local and international families have been able to build or repair their own homes here in Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Job Summary: The Housing Recovery Manager supports San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity’s wildfire recovery and affordable housing programs by guiding families through the full rebuilding and housing navigation process. The role ensures that every step, from intake and eligibility through contracts, financing, design, and construction is clearly managed, sequenced, and supported so families can move forward without confusion or delay. Serving as each household’s consistent point of contact, the Housing Recovery Manager blends case management, housing navigation, and homeowner support. This role is responsible for managing a pipeline of applicants and helping them understand options, make informed choices, and move forward with confidence. This includes assisting with eligibility documentation, coordinating internal feasibility reviews, facilitating homeowner design and financing decisions, and preparing files for internal handoffs. The Manager anticipates needs, problem-solves when issues arise, and keeps projects moving forward with clarity and confidence. The ideal candidate combines empathy with attention to detail, balancing deep client relationships with management of a larger caseload. Daily collaboration with internal teams construction, design, and finance, along with coordination with external partners, ensures progress at each stage and a supported experience for families. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Client Coordination, Support & Communication (40%) Serve as the consistent point of contact for wildfire-impacted families and housing program participants. Guide households through eligibility, design, financing, and rebuilding milestones while ensuring they understand program requirements and next steps. Provide clear, compassionate communication that helps families feel informed, supported, and confident in decision-making. Lead workshops, orientations, and one-on-one sessions, ensuring families feel informed and supported at every step. Pipeline & Case Management (30%) Manage a caseload of households, balancing in-depth support with oversight of multiple files at once. Sequence and monitor all required steps of our intake and program processes, identifying potential delays, missing documents, or compliance gaps and taking action to resolve them. Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure accuracy, timeliness and that project files are handled correctly across departments Housing Navigation & Education (15%) Support homeowners in understanding financing agreements, rebuild-related documents, and program requirements Identify systemic barriers to participation and work with program leadership to troubleshoot solutions. Documentation, Compliance & Program Support (15%) Maintain accurate records, case notes, and digital file organization in compliance with funder and program requirements. Assist with program logistics, including drafting contracts, loan disclosures, insurance documentation and escrow coordination. Qualifications: 3+ years in case management, housing navigation, disaster recovery, affordable housing, or related field. Demonstrated experience supporting clients through complex housing or financial systems. Knowledge of HUD counseling and homebuyer programs strongly preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and detail-management skills; able to balance both deep dives into individual cases and oversight of a large caseload. Collaborative work style; able to partner across teams to keep projects moving without creating stress. Spanish/English bilingual strongly preferred.
