JOB OVERVIEW:

Clear Housing Ltd is seeking a committed and compassionate Housing Support Officer to provide support within our HMO supported accommodation. The role is ideal for someone passionate about empowering vulnerable individuals to build independence, develop essential life skills, and maintain a safe and positive living environment.
As this is a self-employed position, you will be responsible for managing your own tax and National Insurance contributions. Clear Housing Ltd offers opportunities for pay progression based on commitment, performance, and the level of responsibility undertaken.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with vulnerable groups (mental health, homelessness, substance misuse, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, support planning, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations.
  • Organised, flexible, and able to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRABLE):

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2, 3, or 4 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Training in First Aid, Safeguarding, Mental Health Awareness, or related areas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one practical and emotional support to residents with diverse needs, including those with mental health challenges, learning difficulties, and disabilities.
  • Assist residents in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and tenancy management.
  • Conduct needs assessments and co-produce individual, person-centered support plans.
  • Regularly review and adapt support plans to reflect residents’ progress and changing circumstances.
  • Support residents in accessing health services, training, employment, and community opportunities.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the HMO, ensuring the property is safe, well-maintained, and compliant with regulations.
  • Promote positive relationships among residents and provide guidance in resolving conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support sessions, incidents, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies, healthcare professionals, and social services to ensure residents receive comprehensive support.
  • Respond effectively to crises or emergencies to ensure resident safety and wellbeing.
