We are looking for an experienced Housing Support Officer based in the Newquay area.
Qualitas Housing are a non-profit Community Benefit Society that provides a range of housing options such as Supported Housing and healthcare facilities for vulnerable people. We work in partnership with different organisations for the benefit of those living in the communities in which we operate.
The Housing Support Officer will play a vital role in delivering high-quality housing management services, supporting tenants to maintain their independence and tenancies. You will build positive relationships with tenants, support providers, commissioners, and other key stakeholders, recognising the individuality and needs of each tenant. By providing support, advice, and guidance, you will help create a stable, inclusive, and sustainable housing environment that promotes engagement, independence, and wellbeing.
The Housing Support Officer will focus on the day-to-day management of housing services for tenants, specifically those with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, or mental health needs. You will work collaboratively with support providers, local authorities, and other partners to deliver tailored housing services, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will be reporting to our Housing Manager and working with them to help manage our properties across England. As a Housing Support Officer you will be responsible for managing a patch of properties and working with colleagues across different business areas to deliver an effective housing management service. You will be home-based but travelling to different sites across our portfolio. Occasional travel to different locations for team meetings, one-to-ones and team building exercises may also be required.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering Housing Services and ensuring that all services are delivered to the highest standards in line with customer needs and expectations whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and legislation
- Arranging maintenance and the provision of communal services
- Reaching out to external organisations to help build our referral pipelines
- Being part of the tenants journey from the point a referral is received to Tenancy sign ups and terminations
- Assisting tenants to identify and claim welfare benefits
- Dealing with ASB issues, rent arrears and other tenancy related issues
- Maintaining accurate records of tenant and property information
- Responding to tenant inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
- Conduct regular inspections of housing units to ensure they meet quality standards
- Recording information onto our Housing Management System
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Full driving license and use of own vehicle (essential)
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (essential)
- Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills (essential)
- Willingness to travel to different sites (essential)
- Good time-management and Organisation Skills (essential)
- Worked within a housing environment delivering different Housing Services (preferred)
- Chartered Institute of Housing qualification (preferred)
- Experience using Housing Management Systems (preferred)
