Description Position: Housing Support Specialist Report to: To be determined Purpose of Position: Provides on-site support and assistance for residents and property operations at Summer Street Apartments permanent supportive housing program during evenings, weekends and holidays. Individuals working in this position are designated as essential personnel are expected to report to and remain at work during inclement weather and early release days to support essential business functions. Shifts Available: Part-time 2nd Shift SA & SU 4pm-12am 3rd Shift SA & SU 12am-8am Duties and Responsibilities: · Advocates for the mission of the organization and promotes and upholds the agency’s values, by delivering services with safety, respect and effectiveness. · Follows all policies and procedures of the organization. · Resident Support: Promotes a safe, calm, and respectful environment, and serves as a professional point of contact to residents, by actively engaging them, using a client-centered and trauma informed approach. Responds and assesses emergency, safety and/or crisis situations, utilizing non-violent crisis intervention techniques and ensures a timely and respectful resolution in alignment with housing policies and procedures. Coordinate with on-call staff and/or emergency services. Interact with emergency personnel to facilitate services while protecting resident confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws. · Operational Support: Respond, assess and triage maintenance/facility issues or safety concerns. Determine immediate course of action by following policies/procedures for level of urgency and resolution. Responds to resident apartment lockouts as well as other minor maintenance / facilities issues. Completes regular security checks inside and outside the facility in accordance with established protocols. · Performs record keeping and data entry in a timely and accurate manner, including daily logs, incident reports, worker orders and other required data entry/documentation. · Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Experience and Education: · Associate degree in human services or Peer Navigator Training Certificate strongly preferred. A combination of education and equivalent experience working in direct service in the social/human service field may be substituted for degree. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and establish rapport with populations that have experienced vulnerability, trauma, economic poverty, incarceration, substance use, developmental delays, compromised mental wellness, brain injuries, literacy and numeracy issues, and other conditions or situations that have impacted housing stability · Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, be flexible and be able to multi-task. · Have an understanding of client-centered, strengths-based service delivery, harm reduction and trauma informed care. · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Have sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills · Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional boundaries · Must successfully complete Safety Care training · Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and navigating software/programs such as RealPage property management.
