The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is a not-for-profit organization that improves quality-of-life for Albertans affected by schizophrenia and related disorders. Kentwood Place, located in Red Deer, is one of SSA’s 3 housing programs that provide housing for people living with serious mental illness.
The SSA has an exciting career opportunity for the position of casual Housing Support Worker at Kentwood Place. This housing program is owned and operated by SSA and provides 24hr, 7 days a week support to up to 25 tenants in partnership with Alberta Health Services.
Reporting to the Housing Manager, this position will provide one-to-one support to the tenants and will work collaboratively with the Kentwood team and case managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Diploma or Degree in Related Health field
· 3 years minimum experience in a similar environment
· Experience in working with people living with schizophrenia or other related mental health disorders
· Experience in facilitating courses or group activities
· Excellent computer and time management skills
· Demonstrates professionalism in interacting with individuals, families and community partners
Casual hours
Compensation: $18.50 per hour

· Perform all daily and weekly duties and project work as related to the operations at Kentwood.
· In consultation with the case manager, may provide support and/or basic information to family members related to mental illness and services/supports available in the community
· Fosters a psychosocial rehabilitation culture in all aspects of tenant-centered care
· Assists tenants in accessing community resources and professional services
· Observes and reports changes in tenant’s level of functioning (both physical and mental) and level of participation in activities to the case manager.
· Is familiar with the Mental Health Act, The Child Welfare Act, the Health Information Act, FOIPP, and other governing legislation
· Adheres to established protocols for safety, privacy and confidentiality
· Other tasks and duties as required
