Description

As a Housing Support Worker (HSW) with the Youth Housing First Initiative, you will play a vital role in helping youth transition into stable housing while providing ongoing support to ensure their success. Your work will focus on offering compassionate, nonjudgmental assistance to youth as they establish stability in their homes and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Promote youth housing sustainability and advocate for their health, safety, and basic needs.
  • Help participants access and navigate a range of services, ensuring they receive the support they need.
  • Provide in-home visits and continued support to youth after they’ve transitioned into the community, applying best practices to ensure success.
  • Assist in securing financial support for housing and living expenses through programs such as Alberta Works, AISH, and Child and Family Services.
  • Conduct assessments, collect relevant data, and ensure accurate documentation in line with Housing First principles.
  • Provide personalized, hands-on support to youth, assisting them with tenancy and household management, meeting them where they live.
  • Empower participants to achieve self-determined goals through a CTI approach, offering guidance and support throughout their housing journey.
  • Apply trauma-informed practices and harm reduction strategies to meet the unique needs of each participant.
