At Weir Minerals we are looking for an student in Mechanical Engineering who can be a part of our Venlo Technology Hub (VTH) to work on a challenging project! We have an opening for a student to work on the project “Data compilation from over 30 year of pilot High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) testing.” Further technical details about the assignment will be shared with shortlisted candidates. A designated VTH supervisor will guide you throughout the project and provide additional information regarding the technical scope and department activities during the interview. VTH Department: The VTH (Venlo Technology Hub) hosts all innovation projects and provides support for all other departments within the organization where cost reduction, product improvement and increased service to customers are highly valued. We remain accountable from request through delivery to aftercare and support within service trajectories. Weir Minerals Netherlands functions as knowledge hub for displacement pump technology and high pressure grinding rollers within the Weir Group. Continuously pushing the boundaries of our knowledge is of paramount importance to our department. Goal of the project and tasks: To develop a calculation method that predicts the slurry pressure required to overcome static resistance in the mill and achieve initial flow during startup. Improve HPGR data collection and drive user cases for HPGR data Compile the available HPGR data (local and globally) Analyze data and find correlations & gaps Create a beneficiation improvement matrix Improvement of data gathering methods and templates Work together with internal stakeholders (digital team, Process engineering, Testing Skills & Requirements: The student is currently enrolled in Dutch University in Mechanical Engineering (or comparable); The assignment requires full-time (40 hours) commitment from the candidate; The project would be done as a Bachelor/Master thesis; alternative partial project execution in other forms of intern ship possible Fluency in English language, verbally as well as in writing. Experience with Excel and PowerBI, or a comparable software, is required; You are analytical person. You enjoy researching information, data or problems. You think in terms of solutions and can process information efficiently. You are flexible and you can easily adapt to a changing environment. Curious about this role? Responsibilities
The primary goal is to develop a calculation method to predict the slurry pressure needed for High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) startup and improve HPGR data collection methods.
