JOB SUMMARY

This position works closely with the Human Resources Director and HR Specialist, administration and staff of the Academies and Minnesota Management and Budget.
The position requires the ability to communicate with supervisors, staff, school districts and state agencies in order to complete job functions. Information is required to be kept confidential.
This position is scheduled for 32 hours weekly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with personnel transactions in the State’s SEMA4 system,
  • Establishing and maintaining recordkeeping systems
  • Assisting Human Resources staff in the vacancy filling, employee leave, retirement and benefits administration processes.
  • Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.
  • To perform administrative support activities to ensure the HR office functions in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Assist with human resources transactions to ensure that compensation and benefits are in alignment with the collective bargaining agreements.
  • Responsible for administering Unemployment Insurance and Workers Compensation claims.
  • Responsible for pulling information for drivers license verifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer skills using Microsoft office products such as Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Interpret and explain program information to customers, clients, and coworkers, such as policy, procedures, eligibility requirements and application details.
  • Compiling lists, spreadsheets, and graphs to track projects and activities
  • Customer service skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of MMB/State of MN policies and procedures
  • Experience with Self Service, SEMA 4 state systems
  • Experience with unemployment insurance and/or workers compensation
  • Basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.

  • Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months
