Position Summary The Human Resources Administrator is responsible for supporting and administering key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and supports a positive, professional workplace environment. Key Responsibilities * Maintain compliance with applicable Illinois security licensing requirements (including PERC), ensuring proper tracking, renewals, and documentation * Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records in accordance with legal and company requirements * Administer employee benefits programs (including enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries) * Coordinate onboarding processes, including background checks, drug screenings (where applicable and legally compliant), and Form I-9 employment eligibility verification * Oversee recruitment processes to support staffing needs and ensure equitable hiring practices * Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters while maintaining confidentiality * Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, in compliance with applicable laws * Manage unemployment claims, documentation, and participation in hearings as needed * Support HR policy implementation and ensure consistent application of company procedures * Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations * Collaborate with internal teams to promote a respectful and inclusive workplace Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) * 5+ years of human resources or administrative experience * Knowledge of federal and Illinois employment laws and HR best practices * Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and time management skills * Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism * Effective communication and interpersonal skills Qualifications * Experience in security, staffing, or high-volume hiring environments * Familiarity with HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems * Experience administering benefits and leave programs Work Environment & Expectations * This is an on-site position based in Chicago, Illinois * May require occasional extended hours based on business needs Employment Opportunity Statement KATES DETECTIVE & SECURITY AGENCY INC is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable laws enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
