Description

We're looking for an HR Advisor to come in and genuinely own the function.

Our client is a specialist labour-hire and apprenticeship business, placing electrical and civil apprentices with major industrial and construction contractors across Victoria, NSW and Queensland. They're growing fast, and HR has never had a dedicated home. That's where you come in.

This is a newly created role, reporting straight to the General Manager. You'll have real scope to build things your way - systems, policies, the lot.

About the Role

  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, apprenticeship contracts, EBAs and WHS requirements
  • Develop and maintain HR policies tailored to the business's needs
  • Provide practical, sound advice on employee relations and compliance matters
  • Manage the full performance cycle, from KPI tracking through to more difficult conversations
  • Engage effectively with a young, construction-industry workforce that values direct, honest communication
  • Hold people accountable while maintaining strong working relationships
  • Deliver end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for internal employees
  • Lead the selection and implementation of a proper HR information system, building from the ground up
  • Contribute to how the business supports and looks after its people as it continues to grow

About You

You've got real, foundational HR experience - maybe you're a Coordinator ready for more responsibility, or already working at Advisor level and craving more ownership. Either way, you’re driven to have a seat at the table.

You'll bring:

  • A solid handle on Fair Work, apprenticeships and awards - or the drive to get across it fast
  • Someone who can work independently and isn't waiting to be told what to do next
  • Resilience and a good sense of humour
  • An easy-going, down-to-earth style, with the backbone to have firm conversations when it counts
  • A builder's mindset
  • What's On OfferA greenfield state with real influence over how HR takes shape here
  • A 33-hour week (Mon–Thu 7-hour days, 5-hour Friday, 8:30 am start) paid at full-time rate, with some flexibility for the right person
  • Direct line to the GM and Director - no layers, no red tape
  • A team that genuinely cares about doing right by its people
